Hi I'm hoping someone who is familiar with this old system can help.

I have a Clipsal Minder system with LCD keypad that has given me no problem for 16 years. I recently had a problem with a failed oven element that tripped the RCD switch and it took many resets to finally identify the cause. An electrician finally got all back live after several hours. During this time the Minder keypad came back to life each time power was restored - except the last time. Now the keypad is unresponsive and just displays "Self Test Complete Rev 1.0 - 13/08/02".

The original installer of the system no longer supports the Minder. I am somewhat tech savvy but can't find a reference point in any documentation to this message. Power cycling the circuit does not help and I haven't opened the box as yet.

Does anyone have any idea where to go to from here?

    Hi

The LCD screen may have lost its address to minder to fix this you hold the menu and enter key together the select an address most likely 01. (it’s been a long time since i worked on one these directions may be incorrect)

Is the Minder working ie doing scenes/schedules etc if not there is a 3 volt button battery on the minder mother board and possibly a 12 volt motor cycle battery which would keep the program memory in minder however if both batteries are dead the programming will be lost and will need reloading with PC.

To do this you will need the .ini file for minder and minder software.

Hi Graham, thanks for the response. I've tried resetting the LCD address but I get no response from this. The button battery has never been changed and the 12v backup battery is at least 6 years old so I fear I've lost the programming. I have the PC Minder software generously contributed by another poster but I was hoping it would not come to that... If no one has any more positive news for me, then I guess I have to get the software installed on an old XP laptop and source a serial cable... Do I have to create a new .ini file from the software?

Mark 2's you might be able to access 3v battery without removing cards, can't remember its been so long.
Mark 1's too small, add on cards definitely coming out to access battery.

95% of people didn't program code lines for 12v battery boosting, so its only been on trickle charge all its life I guess.

Keypad EEPROM possibly fritzed, it didn't take much in the old days. EEPROM was specific to the firmware you were running in the main controller.

Might be time for an upgrade.
