    Hi There

I'm sure I'll probably get an 'RTFM' suggestion but here goes...

I haven't used this TP before but would like to know about CCTV monitoring. The question is, "Is there a composite video input on the colour touch or do I have to convert to IP?"

    Many thanks

    Richard

    Simple answer:
You need to convert to IP.

    Complicated answer:
That composite to IP converter/server/etc needs to use a WinBond chipset.

I'd strongly suggest using the forum search tool, as there has been many many MANY discussions on this topic already, detailing every single aspect of what is required, what works, and what doesnt.

You don't always have to use WinBond.

You can use a generic IP converter provided you can get the URL from the converter where static JPEG images are served from.

most IP converters have such an address, finding it is the fun part.

I think it only needs the Winbond chipset in order to use the webcam component.. if you get a camera server that has a webserver which can serve up a jpeg image then you can use the web browser component, which gives you quite a few more options.

Nearly, but not quite right (wrong way around).

If you want to use the HTML component in colour C-Touch, you need to use one which is compatible with the pre-loaded ActiveX control in Colour C-Touch. Generally, ones which use the Winbond chipset should work.

If you use the Webcam component, it will work with any web cam, provided it can serve up a JPEG image. If you can find a URL which will give you a static image on a web browser, it should work.

    Hi Guys!

Thanks for that, just a little worried about all this talk of jpeg's. Does this mean I won't achieve 24fps or close on the moving video?

Let me clarify. In this project I'll be using 4 camera's - composite to video matrix. I'd then like to take an output from the matrix and convert that to IP and into the TP. Camera's 1 - 4 will then be controlled via the TP (hidden buttons controlling 1-4 by 232)

I understand that IP only is required when using a removable wireless TP (like the Vatntage 1210 etc) but they still have a composite video input on all their fixed in wall units. Any reason why CBUS do not have a comp vid input?

    Thanks, looking fwd to replies.

You should be able to get up to 10 frames per second.

    That should work fine.

Yes, there is a good reason. It has been discussed previously on the forum. Search for it if you are really interested.

    Hi Darren

Thanks for that. I have searched the forums using all combinations of keywords for why there is no composite video input on the CTC and the only thing that comes up is my own thread, so still in the dark as to why... that's pretty much only out of interest. What is important is that it hasn't.

    Thanks
