    Hi All,
Having scoured the web for a remote control application for Android devices without any luck I embarked on writing my own. Now that it is somewhat operational I thought I would share it. It's still in early stages but you can get it from the market by searching for Cbus Remote, and best of all it's free
    Some basic info here
It's limited to Android 2.2 devices and will work with touchscreens only. Tested with HTC Desire and Nexus One.
Feel free to give it a go and post any comments or bugs you find.
    Cheers,
    Cubtronix.

Any reason why 2.2 and not some older verions. Not sure what my Galaxy S is, but I dont seem to see many Android 2.2 devices around at the moment.

Good work though. WIll chech the phone tonight and give it a go if it is 2.2.

Good timing. I only got my Desire 2.2 about 2 weeks ago. Will give it a shot tonight. I assume by your description that it connects directly to the CN, and not via C-Gate?

Are you able to connect C-mote and C-Gate to the CN simultaneously?

    Correct.
I don't think so, as far as I know the CNI can only support one socket connection at a time.
No reason, but I changed it to allow Android 2.1 and it seems to be working on a 2.1 Desire. Let me know how it goes on the Galaxy S.

I have been speculating about using a PACA module with a serial-ethernet converter. Then you can poke it with your own matching codes on both sides. The PACA reads the serial port constantly for inputs.

Might be another way into the C-Bus network with an open architecture. Just needs a source code for the PACA which is able to operate with your project software.

Your idea requires much less hardware.

I am not familiar with the Bell Press function. From the docs it appears to be a momentary pushbutton where the output stays on so long as the button is pressed. Is that what you are after?
What do you mean by "pushing a camera widget"?

    Update release

    Hi All,
Just posted an update on the android market. Significant changes are:
    • Will now retrieve status updates of all cbus addresses including dimming channels.
    • Added title to top of screen to indicate which area is being displayed.
    • Added pulse output function which behaves like the cbus bell-press function. Output stays on only as long as button is pressed.
    Enjoy!

Is there any way of getting it to work thru the wiser?

I am using Galaxy S, upgraded to Andriod 2.2 with Kies (so that it support Flash) and I can access Wiser with ordinary Browser from the phone. With the big screen of the galaxy S, it looks good enough. The only problem is that with 3G connections, the connection was really slow sometimes(as shown in ip cams) and even hanged but with WIFI it works the same as on a laptop. So I think a native app would make the traffic smoother with all the graphical stuff in the apps and better control of ip cams.

Yes I agree, the flash looks and works great but I have large fingers and it is not always easy to select the lighting. I use wiser on the PC but would like something like the IPhone app for the Android phone for my large fingers.

New C-Mote upgrade available on the market. Now able to change the display order of each list!
Long press on the item and select "Reorder" from the menu.
If you are upgrading, the first time you change each lists order you need to make sure you confirm each items position by pressing and releasing the drag hook for each item or you may get unexpected results.
    Enjoy.

Nice work on the app! Very impressive!

I am trying to integrate my dlt's with my sonos but would like to do this without cgate. Basically I'd like to talk to the cni directly just like you did.

Any chance you would be willing to share some of your code? In particular it would be handy to have some help with the protocol stuff.

    Thanks!
