I know it's really slow etc, but I'm trying to send a logic project to my second hand 5500PACA over C-bus. Apparently it CAN be done, though not recommended.

Everything seems to be connected and comminucating (I can see the PAC setting the incorrect date and time in the PICED logs) but when I go to send a project to the unit it says 'Config file failed to download to the unit'.

When I try to receive from the unit it just says transfer failed.

What could be causing this? Is there a way to factory reset the PAC in case there's some dodgy code running on it or something?

    Current system is RDP > Windows Server 2025 running C-gate, SLCC, Toolbox, PICED > 5500PC over RS232 > 5500PACA

Connecting to the USB on the PAC is not gonna be easy for me at all as all the C-bus kit is at the other end of the house and mounted at height.

If it did work at one point then check the unit address, not it's cbus address, that my need to be set to 0 for it to work, and it does otherwise look ok. This is the same for the original small black and whites.

It's never worked. Currently have it set as unit 10 and it speak to PICED ok. Just can't transfer projects to or from it apparently.

Try setting it to 0 and see what it does.

Does it say anywhere whay address it should use, on piced, on the unit, help files. I have used 0 for the old bw ones, but it may be different, try 1, 30 or 31 maybe.
    Ashley may know.

Also, check your cbus line make sure its in tip top shape (volts, amps) even disconnect devices not needed while you try the transfer.

I haven't been able to find anything that says it needs to be a specific unit number. You can pick whatever unit number you want on PICED.

The C-bus network is great, everything is brand new apart from the PAC, voltages all fine.

What's the latest firmware for these and how do I upgrade it? Also, can these be factory reset? (I'll use the USB for that, don't want to brick it)

PACs and touch screens are different beasts. You can program certain touch screens via cbus (although you shouldn't ever bother) , but I sure you can't program a PAC that way. Happy to be proven wrong though :)

Was reading the help se tion of PICED andit specifically mentions that this is possible.

I checked the C-Gate logs and this all I can see that's maybe relevant:

    20260127-145033.159 761 cmd19 - Command: [25]event e0s0c0
    20260127-145033.159 766 cmd19 - Response: [25] 200 OK.
    20260127-145033.161 761 cmd19 - Command: &4[24]do p/254/10 blockstore c:\clipsal\piced\projects\thegaff\config.mot
    20260127-145033.161 766 cmd19 - Response: [24] 408 Operation failed: //THEGAFF/254/p/10 (Error while reading file: c:\clipsal\piced\projects\thegaff\config.mot)
    20260127-145035.849 761 cmd3 - Command: noop
    20260127-145035.849 766 cmd3 - Response: 200 OK.

It's like it can't read the file. Could it be a bug?
