Is there any tricks to Scheduling a Backlight or Alarm (special) function on PICED 3.1 / C-Touch v2.0 firmware touchscreen? I've scheduled both the Backlight ON and Alarm ON events but they just don't seem to occur.

I have just tested it to make sure there wasn't a bug, and it works fine.

If you have an enabling group for the Schedule, make sure that it is set to the right level, otherwise the Schedule will not occur. Normally for alarms, you do have an enabling group so that the alarm can be switched off.

Note that the backlight will come on automatically when the "Alarm On" special function is executed.

Thanks Darren... worked out the problem.... the Backlight has a 60 second timeout associated with it, thus when special function was setting the Backlight ON, it was taking me more than 60 seconds to go and check the physical touchscreen to see if it had worked, and by that time the Backlight was off again!

My next question, can you extend the Backlight timeout value independently of the Main Menu timeout? The Backlight off timeout appears to be linked to the Main Menu timeout in the PICED Project Options. Is there another way to schedule the Backlight to turn on, and keep it on for a pre-defined period of time eg. 6pm-9pm.

At this stage the backlight time-out and default page time-out are the same. You could get around it by using the page timeout for the required backlight time-out, and manually set the page time out for each page to some other value.

i just set the schedule timer to retrigger every 61 seconds (60 seconds was unreliable) so that the backlight stays on.

    thanks

Well done. I just love lateral thinking :)

It is quite amazing the way that people can solve some problems.

    Alarm sounds

Have just been playing with this myself.

I can get a schedule to go to the alarm page (that has snooze etc buttons) and the backlight comes on but no sound. I have the special function set to alarm on, what am I doing wrong?

    Chris.

The "Alarm On" Special Function should switch on the alarm and the backlight at the same time. Can you confirm :
    1. You are using the "Alarm On" Special Function
    2. The backlight is coming on, but the alarm sound isn't
    3. Pressing buttons on the C-Touch does make a beep sound

Sorry haven't been able to get back to this until now.

yes I am using the Alarm Special function.

I have checked to make sure the schedule is working by getting it to go to a certain page when the alarm is activated (which it does), but no sound? The backlight appears to work.

Yes, every time I touch the screen there is a sound (i.e beep)

Is there something simple I am doing wrong?

It sounds like you are doing all of the right things. Can you send your project archive to CIS tech support for them to look at. They will refer it to me if they can't resolve it :)

    Darren,

Has my file got to your desk yet??

I deleted all the alarm functions and started again but with no luck

I am not sure if I sent the project to CIS before I deleted the alarm functions, if I didn't, let me know.

I have tried this on about 5 screens we have installed but no luck on any of them.
I have tried a button especially programmed as an 'alarm on' with no luck too. I have used a 'set sounds' button to get into windows properties but everything seems to be in order there too.

One client wants this running so I would appreciate any help.

Spoke to Ryan at CIS yesterday, seems it wasn't something I was doing, looks like it might be a more wide spread problem.

    Any ideas anyone?

Having spoken with Ryan I discovered that you are talking about a Colour C-Touch. This thread was discussing Black and White C-Touch. This has caused a lot of confusion.

We discovered recently that the Colour C-Touch does not contain the sound files for the alarm function. This will be fixed in the new release.
