The number you have mentioned is the OEM part number.

The Clipsal part number for that PS was 5000CTCPS... you may have more luck searching for that number.

    Hi,

I contacted the manufacturer of the OEM power supply (sinpro taiwan) and they sent me a replacement unit (SPU65-101) which has the same specs of the original V1 power supply. I then got an electrical engineer to change over the cable. The cable remained the same length. He wired the cable as per pin out detailed in the following post:

    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7372

    Pins 1&2 0VDC
    Pins 3&4 5.66VDC

I connected the new power supply, and switched the power on. Now on the screen i see the blue light flashing and a clicking sound coming from the c-touch screen.

Anyone know what is going on here?

    Regards
    Paul

Have you made any progress resolving your issue ? I am facing a similar problem with a Ctouch version 2 for which i don't have a power supply. I am powering the device with a lab power supply and I am getting to the same symptoms as you : ethernet LEDs on, screen flicker and clicking sound.

    See my post :

No progress yet. i have given my unit to someone who will power it up with his lab power supply to see what happens. We measured the replacement power supply that we used and it puts out exactly 5.13V. i noticed the back of the unit specifies 5.3V. The original OEM power supply specifies 5V.

How did the original PSU fail? I ask because I've got a dead CTC mk1 pulled from a customers installation with similar symptoms and ruring testing, I found out that the PSU brick had a catastrophic failure inside and instead of 5V, the output was > 12V. That overvoltage was enough to kill the CTC motherboard and all you get is the clicking and the LED.

I've got another PSU brick from a different CTC mk1 that had a 3 legged power transistor looking device floating around inside the casing. There is a small gap on the PSU PCB where that component should have gone. It did appear to work properly though despite missing a component and the CTC was only replaced because the touchscreen layer was damaged beyond repair.

    A hint.

This is based on my recollection and MAY DAMAGE THINGS IF I'M WRONG.

The very first model CTC had a diode in the power input (on the CTC PCB); and at the large current draw involved would drop around 0.6 to perhaps 0.65 V (making lotsa yummy heat in the process).

The power supply was a 4-wire design that monitored the voltage applied to the terminals of the CTC (thus allowing the cable to be trimmed).

The PS was set to deliver approx 5.6 or 5.65V to the terminals of the CTC, which after the internal diode would deliver 5V to the innards.

So, if feeling brave, bump up the volts a bit on your bench supply. From memory you need about 4 or 5A.

NOTE THAT THE CTC2 had a different PS arrangement with an external protection box, and this worked differently. For that one you DO NOT want to push the volts above about 5.1V.

Let us know if you do this and it works.

    V1 Likes a little more

When playing with the same issue recently (5000CTC = version 1) I found a very similar power supply (to original) from a reputable manufacturer.
I tried at the 5.3V as advertised on the back of the touch screen and it was clearly not enough, the screen would flash, start to boot, crash and repeat.
Wind it up to 5.6V and it worked like bought one.
