I've just installed the C-Bus software (v2.7.6) onto my laptop and it keeps on running at 100% CPU. The problem appears to be that I don't have a real serial points on the system, only USB. I do have an ISDN that shows as COM3, which is what I select under the coms setup.

Is this a know problem, and is there a way around it. Can I start the software up in a 'no comms' mode?

    Yes.

No way around it. Sorry. :-(

Fixed in the upcoming release of V3. :)

would not installing the software for a USB to serial converter tell the lappy that a serial port existed (even if it was not communicating) - or have I picked this up wrong?
