    Hello Forum,

I am have trouble trying to communicate my C-Bus System. When I connect my PC to the Ethernet connection on the Interface module it is unable to find the C-Bus Interface with an error code "Information 23109 - Failed to open the Network, as the C-Bus Network is inaccessible."

Prior to and when plugged into the 5500CN module the RED and Green LED's are flashing.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like it might be a networking issue.

Your PC and the CNI both need to have a valid IP and be on the same subnet.

    Can you ping the CNI?

    Hi Nick,
Could you explain further, how would I Ping the CNI and may it be the cable I am using (Blue CAT5)

    Thanks

Go to the command prompt in Windows.

Type ping aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the IP address of the CNI.

If you see it come back with something like "Reply from aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd:.." then your CNI is reachable from your PC.
If you see it say "Request timed out" then the CNI is not accessible.

I don't know if Paul found a solution, but I have a similar issue - please read on:

I have a C-Bus system in an apartment with a wired network (ethernet) with 3 x PCs running Windows 10. I am trying to set up a C-Bus Network Interface Mk II (5500CN2) so I can use C-Bus Toolkit from the PCs across the ethernet network.

Both lights on the CNI are flashing red/green - confirming communication with the C_Bus and the ethernet.

In the C-Bus Toolkit (I have the latest software version) I have inserted Network Connection Details to match the info from the Clipsal IP Utility tool: Type: CNI; Address 192.168.0.100 and Port 10001. When I try to open the network I get a dialogue box with the message: "Failed to open the Network, as the C-Bus Network Interface is inaccessible."

When I ping 192.168.0.100 I do not get a response. The CNI and my PC are both showing sub-netmask 255.255.255.0 but the IPv4 address of the PC I am using is 10.0.0.13 (preferred). How do I get them talking to each other?

I have a C-Touch interface - do I need to change the network settings on this perhaps?

Assistance would be much appreciated, thank you.

No, network is set as private.

If the PC is on 10.0.0.13 it won't see a 192.168.0.100 address. You need to put them on the same subnet (i.e first 3 numbers the same). If all the PC's are on the 10.0.0.x subnet, put the PCI on this subnet.

    Hi Ashley
I managed to change the IP address and Gateway of the CNI to align with the Windows network. I have it working now.
    Much appreciated thank you.
