I've heard that a new C-Bus controlled multi room audio product is being released soon.

    Yes we Know..... ;)

Can I get some details on the cabling requirements, so I can wire my new house in Preparation?

    I promise I won't tell anyone :)

    Regards

    Rohan

    My 1c worth.

Have heard that the speakers are self powered (i.e. amplifier built as part of speaker). And cat 5 distribution.

This would indicate that you would need to get a power source to each speaker.
Cat 5 distribution could mean audio over cat 5 or just standard C-Bus control over the amplifier.

Evil thought - This would give the ability to ramp up the volume in another room on an unsuspecting listener. 1812 Overture or perhaps Guns n Roses "Come on feel the noise"

Could also be a red herring?

It is only 1c worth :p

If you wire with cat5 you at least have an option to use a-bus as well (another Aussie invention picked up by quite a few companies now).

As I have stated before. Using a switch for volume control etc is a far cry from the system currently used for whole house control as they give you feedback and have better button configuration etc.

Not to say that I am not interested - I am, but they will have to develop a few more keypads before I am hooked.

It will be interesting to see how the music signal is sent, line level audio over the cat5 (as per the a-bus I believe), which pairs get used. They are all used now. How will sound quality be affected with the use of a common pair.

Bring it on clipsal, let us see what you can do

    Aaaaaahhhhhh !!!!

    Hi Peter..

After spending many hours of playing cupid with C-Bus/HomeGate/ServerX and B&O A/V equipment in a hope they may produce a baby, "C3BO", nearly blowing up 4 grands (GBP) worth of speaker in the process (which are better looked after than the wife!) I stumble across this innocent thread.

Please tell me this is just a rumour or planned for 2010...??? Can anybody from Clipsal confim this one way or another as it seems to be the kit that isn't released is what costs a fortune ;)

One consilation is that I also required whole house video (6 sources to 6 rooms) to go over CAT controlled in each room using the B&O remote although I expect this was the missing part of the rumour & Clipsal will release a full package next week at a fraction of the cost.(?)

On a more serious note however; although I can appreciate that in a rapidly expanding innovotive market, keeping your cards close to your chest helps maintain a competitive edge; it would be good to ensure your current customerbase are given the benefit of knowing what is around the corner? A bi-monthly newsletter to registered customers would be nice.

    Cheers
    Greg...

    Hi Greg,

On this forum we really cannot confirm or deny anything related to future products.

However ... I strongly suggest you grab your local rep one on one and have a chat. He/she is in the best position to be able to give answers to your questions, and is better briefed on what can and can't be said.

Thanks for the info ashleigh / tamika although I don't think I can make the launch given the geography.

I would be grateful if anybody who does attend could scan/mail any brochures or documents.

    Cheers

Just to confirm; eventually got a response from Clipsal UK which basically says they have no information either.

I'll retrieve the soldering iron from the bin!

    Cheers

TaMika and her cheeky teaser marketing! Never the less I can't wait 'til she comes to Sydney.

Reminds me of a Simpsons episode...

    Gabbo! Gabbo! Gabbo!

    "What's this about Gabbo?"

    :)

Thanks all for your comments; I'll be patient and wait for some info to come from the Sydney Show!

Frank: took a look at your site (from a link from automatedhome - I think) - good to see some pics taken in the field so to speak.

    Cheers
