    Hello all

C-Bus Forums have been with the current hosting provider for something like 15 years. For at least the last 10 years, the hosting and general admin has been performed by an ex-Schneider staff member in their own time and at their own cost.

Like all such things, this is coming to an end. After many $, and many thankless hours spent trying to ward off the spammers, it has all become too much. The last straw was a recent attack that saw this forum used to send thousands of spam emails, much to the ire of the hosting provider.

A user of the forums has volunteered to take on the hosting, maintenance, and general upkeep. This is a complex undertaking, with a relocation of domain names, shifting of the hosting and underlying database, and eventually an update into more modern forum software that better defeats the attackers and spammers.

This migration and upgrade will be done in stages, starting with a domain name transfer. Once that has completed, the forum will be placed into maintenance mode for 24-48 hours while it is duplicated into its new home. When it comes back online, it will be in the hands of the new maintainer - who will later do an upgrade and modernisation.

    An approximate timeframe:

    - October 21 - October 27: domain name shuffles

    - October 28 - October 31: maintenance mode (forum offline) and migration

These dates are only guesses, and could easily change by several days in either direction. If things work really badly, the dates might change by a week or more.

Please welcome our new anonymous benevolent dictator, who may travel the world less and see less interesting sights than your current admin - who is renowned for his wanderings and strange locations around the world in his endless holidays.
