In clipsals release of cbus software broucher a while back when the new software was going to be called "version 3 ". The broucher said there was going to be a barcode scanning feature in it where you scan the packaging and it automatically add the device and its serial number ect. Does any one know is it in Toolkit Beta Version and how does it work ... how do you use it??? And the packaging has a software config barcode is that the one you scan. Any info would be great big job to do wondering if it would save time. Thanks. :)

    Yes its basically working..

Take a box.. scan the barcode.. The barcode contains the Catalog Number and the serial number of the unit.. if the unit doesnt exist, it gets added and the serial number is captured.. If the unit DOES exist (based on serial number) the unit GUI is shown.

However, we're still adding all of the catalog numbers into our internal database.. so a lot of units may still be unrecognised when you scan them.

Before barcode scanning a unit make sure that in the Project Manager you've got a Network Node (or a node below a network selected). The unit will be added to the currently selected Network.

    Hi CJ,

Barcodes are best scanned whilst you've got the "Units In Database" view visible, ie.. you've got the Units Node selected in the "Treeview"..

Additionally, whilst any Unit GUI is open you can scan the box to fill in the Catalog Number and Serial Number for the unit you're programming.
