Wondering if anyone on the forum has installed/programmed the new Shutter control relay yet? Be good to know your thoughts on this much anticipated product.

    Hi Mark

Another 400+ units hit the warehouse today (should fill most of the backorders) with a similar number due in mid to late next week (this should put stock on the shelves).

My backorder of Shutter Relays arrived today.

Setup on test bench and works great. !

    Sooooo easy to program....

    2 Questions

    1) why the change to orange LEDS ?? The green were much better for relays.

    2) When setup in 5034N one button Shutter Toggle. The LED on the switch is always on. Buy design ?? better if it went off when blind stopped.

The orange LEDs are because it's a bus-powered product, same as on a PCI. They are used because they are much brighter at lower current.

The indicator is following the group level, like a normal key unit indicator.

The shutter relay models its position internally and will report as "on" in the regular status report for any position other than fully closed, so you should see it go off when it runs to its timeout on the "close" relay.

Ahh this makes perfect sence now

I have set as "Level Translational Mode"
You are right when you send to close it goes out actually 4 seconds before the Timeout on the close relay.
When you look at the blocks on the switch the LED is "State/Time" when you select "Shutter Toggle" Why was this chosen over "status"?? should this give some extra indication (ie flashing while timer on) ??

There is some other wierdness Running tool kit 1.8.1 if I change the LED to always OFF and click apply it changes back to "State/Time" why is this so....

Installed for client a few days ago, was a breeze, and worked perfectly.

I called Clipsal today to order another 14 for the same client, and was told (wait for it) that more stock was not expected until NOVEMBER!!!

So I called again to confirm, and was told the same thing. What the hell??? Surely this is a mistake?

Anyone know where I can get 14 from?

Who the hell told you November?

There will be 1,000 units available about 20th April. There will be another 1,000 units mid May and (depending on demand) another 1,000 in June. Please PM me on where you got the 'info' from. This sort of message is wrong and is not acceptable.

Make sure you place the order for your units

Is it just my imagination or has this issue been fixed in 1.8.2 I just tried and now setting shutter toggle sets the LED to off where it used to be State/Time. Also changing the LED status and Applying now works also.

So all fixed.. I cound not see this in the release notes...

    'Opening' 26 Blinds Relays Simultaneously

Could anyone suggest the most efficient way to 'open' 26 blind relays in one go as a 'Master Open'? I am using the L5501RBCP shutter relay units. The blind motors are Somfy LS40. Some may already be up so I assume the motor will switch off if they are at their limit. Is there a way to do this from a scene or does it need programming in a PAC?

    Thanks

    Andrew

Turning 26 groups ON or OFF is well within the capabilities for a Scene in most C-Bus Key units that supports scenes. Earlier NEOs (V 1.5.00 and before) had a limitation of 10 groups per scene, but the most recent products, including DLT, allow all of the 40 possible groups to be assigned to the same scene if required.

Shutter Control (26 of them) via a Scene

    Thanks Don.

The following commands exist for the shutter relay:

    1. Shutter Toggle
    2. Shutter Open Toggle
    3. Shutter Close Toggle
    4. Shutter Open
    5. Shutter Close
    6. Shutter Stop

How do you specify the specific command via a scene? My understanding is you can use a percentage or and absolute value between 0 and 255, 0 being 'off' and anything else effectively being 'on'.

'Off' (I assume) is equivalent to Shutter Close and uses 0.
'Open' being equivalent to Shutter Open = 255.

Do the other 4 options have specific values that can be used?

The Shutter Relay was designed to be backwards compatible with all existing C-Bus devices. It even works with old 1.00 non-Learn units. This also means that if you can generate messages like a key unit then you can control the Shutter Relay.

To do this, the Shutter Relay makes use of special levels of the group address. This is called Level Translation mode, as set on the Global tab of the Shutter Relay UI, and is the default mode when units are shipped.

What I suggest you do is open a key unit UI and look at the Key Functions and Blocks tabs. Then, change the function of a key and look at how the parameters change.

Also suggest you take a look at this thread.

    Not quite on the Level

Be aware that in Toolkit the Default is not 'Level Translation Mode', but is 'Proportional Mode'.

This sometimes causes issues for first time users who want to use 1,2, or 3 button control where 'Level translation Mode' needs to be selected (on the Global Tab).
