This depends on how the bridge is configured. If it is in 'application connect' mode, then in essence the bridge has no effect. Setting say group 32 on the lighting application downstairs will set group 32 on the lighting application upstairs and vice versa. This means there can be no overlap of groups between the 2 levels. Alternatively they may have created a different lighting application for one of the levels.

In either of these cases you just need to copy the appropriate application between the networks using toolkit. To do this just select the application you want to copy, click on the copy button, then go to the target network, click on the application node in the left panel then select paste. You can do it both ways if you like. If both levels share the default lighting application (i.e. using a different range of groups), you just set the switch up as if it were on the same network. If the other level is on a different lighting application, you will need to set this up a the secondary application in the switch.

If the bridge is not set up in 'application connect' mode, then you can't control the other network from a switch. You need a device like a touchscreen or wiser.

Thanks for that Ashley, the upstairs network has all its group addresses on "Application 49 - upstairs" and the downstairs network has all its group addresses on "Application 48 - downstairs" I presume this means that it is safe to copy each of these applications to the other network.

That's right. Just copy each application to the the other network then you can talk either way using the secondary application

Just as a precaution when doing major changes like that it's always a good idea to take a backup first just in case you slip up. :)
