I have had cbus for over 10 years and have had to replace one of the relays - I have purchased this one but the channels will not light up. Both the unit and c bus lights are on green

    Hello Donna.
Did you have the relay programmed?

    Perhaps it is 5516RVF?
I'm not familiar with the new family of relays and Spacelogic software but like every CBus input and output unit it will be non functional until programmed.
Someone else will reply soon I am sure.

Its a 16 Chanel LED lighting relay it will need to be programed using the new CBus toolkit software and a PC. also need to know how the old unit was programed so it will work as the old one did data base would be handy.

The 16 channel relay needs to be programmed with C-Bus commission software. This is a breaking release as it uses CGate server V3. SE have completely dropped the ball with software lately. You really can't have old version V1.16.4 on the same PC as C-Bus commission (a completely un-intuitive piece of software) due to conflict in in CGate versions. I have managed to install both on a laptop but it's pretty unstable.

The real pain in the arse is that you need commission to program new relays and dimmers but it can't program many legacy products such as eDLTs (yet). A complete balls-up! When you need to do this day to day, it's a major drain on time which you can't charge customers for. I would typically swap out a relay unit and program in 30 minutes (electrically and programming) but it now takes me over 1.5 hours (commission crashes constantly and won't upgrade the old CGate files).

Good luck with tackling this. Put aside a fair chunk of time.

Schneider Electric, please get your shit together! You look like fools ATM. Stop focusing on names (renaming) and marketing and get it together on products and software.

Perhaps you are already all over this but I found this document about SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission - Simultaneous Use with C-Bus Toolkit

    Thanks Daryl

Yes, have seen this. I've had to go back to 1.16.4 as Commission/TK1.17/TK1.18 fail to update/upgrade projects. We have about 300 sites and almost all of them have failed to upgrade. So, we're forced to stick with 1.16.4 . This is what we are constantly greeted with.

Last week, helping a fellow sparky to make changes on his system. Had to add a 16 channel relay. Long story short, it screws up the network. Throw in having to flip between TK and commission. Added a software burden and it improved slightly. The sparky called tech support and they told him to add (another) hardware burden. Again, improves slightly but still problematic. Remove the new relay and everything works well. It's a fair size network so I'm confused why two burdens are needed (or even why suggesting a second one be added). I'm going to drop off a spare 12 channel unit (non-green one) to get the lights back on.

SE having to produce a 20+ page document (powerpoint presentation really) to navigate the the current situation is (IMHO) just shows how out of touch they now are.

For complete transparency, I used to be the Offer Manager (SE's name for product manager) for C-Bus along with Pete O'Neill. We would NEVER have allowed this sort of pain to be inflicted on customers /users.

Yeah the failed to upgrade is a piece of S$#t however go to the documents folder where the new commission software data is stored and delete the old database files not the directories that were created. Then reopen the software and the problem should be fixed (except for some specific projects with certain parts and applications)
I went to replace a 2 gang Saturn switch at a remote site 2.5hrs from home and a simple job that should have been 30 minutes onsite took over 3.5hrs to sort this chestnut out, and reconfigure the laptop to and from versions of software unfortunately the damage to the customer has been done. The customer have lost faith in their expensive Clipsal solution and will be using alternate products in their new forever home they are building. It is a sad state of affairs really they feel gypped from the original install to now - Clipsal done the original project as well

Have you tried the latest SpaceLogic C-BUS commission v2.9.0.3318 ?

I've tried the Schneider forums but thats a waste of time.

Basically as of April 20205 SpaceLogic C-BUS commission is NOT backwards compatible

If you have an old CBUS install then use the old toolkit version to make adjustments and DON'T used any of the new spacelogic dimmers or relays

Just for the record, having followed this up personally with Conformist.. the problem with the network not working when the new 16 channel relay was added to the network turned out to be a bad C-Bus cable elsewhere in the network.

Thanks Nick... I was going to post this update, but I'm about 10 hours short each day at the moment.
