    Folks,

I have a suspicion that my last post on this got buried. This is what I was asking:

I have measured the voltages between +24 and the device inputs and I'm seeing 18 to 21 approx.

I have measured the current between +24 and one of the device inputs and I'm seeing 22.5mA - which now leaves me confused as to the whole concept of 4-20mA !

    Still completely clueless! Thanks.

    No better with Toolkit 1.3.0

It had to be worth a try! Full install of Toolkit 1.3.0 and C-Gate. Project updated. Still exactly the same - all readings stuck on zero.

I need some help please guys!!

Hi Nick, and any other users of the 5504GI,

I'm sorry to say that CIS engineering don't agree with the diagnosis of a firmware fault. There is some other defect with Nicks unit, and returning it for repair is appropriate.

Can other users of the 5504GI please *not* assume that every one of them should be returned for some magical firmware change. If you have one and it does what you want, please leave it alone.

    Thanks

    Update.....

.....the 5504GI is on the way back to the UK distributor and a new unit has been ordered. So, hopefully, whether it is firmware or something else entirely, I should be up and running soon.

Thanks to everyone that has helped.

    Progress Update

I thought it would be worth an update on progress.

In short, I am still waiting for a replacement or updated 5504GI.

Apparently, my supplier is still waiting for something to arrive from Australia.

So, it has only been seven weeks so far.......

    Eureka !

I have finally received a shiny new 5504GI. It is connected to the same sensors as the old one, so all 4-20mA. The difference is that ..... this one works!

I still have some work to do on scaling etc, but I can now see "raw" values between 0 and 255 on all four channels -- much better than the fixed 0 that I was getting before.

I suspect we shall never know whether the old unit was faulty, or whether I needed the latest firmware. Bottom line is, it's working!

    Thanks to everyone that helped.
