Hi all, What is everybody using for their 24V power supply. I see the spec sheet states 10W max? The only DIN rail supply I can see with that low an output is the Schneider one.I'm wondering if most are using the 15w meanwell version?

I think you will find the 10 watt max is referencing the maximum power of the device, not the maximum power of the PSU that can be connected to the AC2
Think of your toaster may have a rating of 2kW but you plug it into a socket that can deliver a lot more.
Hence it only consumes up to it's maximum

The reason I am asking is because my automation controller failed after 8 days. The mean well power supply indicates overload and the automaton controller is dead.
I can power it up through the USB port but the 24v input seems to be a short circuit… what I don’t want to hear from the supplier is “ but you used a 15w supply”

you will not hear that from the supplier,
if your product is new, and this has happened, then contact local sales agent or supplier or even call Clipsal custom care, and get a return and replacement, if you are certain its the 5500AC2 side, and not a issue with the power supply itself. its interesting that the 5500AC2 still starts on USB. so i would make double sure that its not your power supply.

BTW Schneider/Clipsal sell a ABLM1A24006 24v Dinrail Mount Power supply that works very well with the C-Bus automation Controllers, this is the recommended power supply and its ~15W

typical draw of the 5500NAC2 or 5500AC2 is about 2 to 2.5 watts at best, to get it up to 10W you need to be hammering all of its services. as well as drawing from the USB port the full compliment of its power also. as the USB A port accounts for the lions share of that rating,

Yep, I'm sure its not the supply, first thing I did was check (and replace) it. Local supplier is getting me another unit. I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

Clipsal make a 24V DC DIN mount power supply, part #ABLM1A24006. This is a 600mA version. They also make a 1.2A version. I've been using these in all of my projects and haven't had a single failure.
