Hi I have a basic Cbus Install in an investment unit.
It appears that a dimmer has failed and i want to know if i can replace the unit without having the original programming of the unit.

Can i connect to the network and back up the failed dimmer and reinstall the programming on another unit.

    Thanks

Assuming the unit is still responding to communications, yes you can do this with C-Bus Toolkit. Scan the network, transfer it to the database, ensure the old unit is present and there are no units are at address 255, then unplug the old unit and connect your brand new unit to the network. There is a Re-install function designed to automatically take care of re-programming the new unit, or you can manually transfer the programming back from the database to the unit in question.
