The most likely cause is an incorrectl inserted flash card. Check that it has been inserted correctly. I'd also inspect the pins for signs of damage.
Have you tried re-inserting the original flash card?

we copied a more up to date card from another screen and both screens have gone down. We have been sent new cards and they still don't work. Pins look ok on both screens.

When you insert the card it is very easy to get it to go in the hole but not into the actual card slot. The alignment is tricky. You will most likely find that if inserted properly the card is hard up against the plastic cover - on one side only. I think from memory its the screen side.
If you copy cards then there are some BIG gotchas. You must use an SD card reader on a window NT machine. The destination card MUST be pre-formatted to use NTFS (this is not the default, and doing it is quite difficult). And you must copy all files including system and hidden files.

ok I have 2 new flash cards 1 for each screen.neither work. I left 1 of the screens connected to the power just incase it boots up. after a while there is a screeching noise from the screen then it stops. There are no lights on except when I connect the power for a brief second on the RJ45 socket on the rear,

You need to order a mark one power supply, there is a conversion kit available but not the best solution.
