From your very effective search engine :) I know that on about 5 occasions people have asked the same question: Can I access C-Bus using the toolkit via the Minder C-Bus interface? The answers have been "no" or on
http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=337 it was
"Please note that at this stage the C-Bus Toolkit does NOT support network scanning via a Minder PCI"
Can we put this one to bed once and for all or does "at this stage" mean that it's coming in a future release? (Don't want to buy PCI/CNI unless there's no option)
Thanks in advance

How then does one access C-Bus with Toolkit if you have a Minder interface?
I would like to add a Wireless network to my existing C-Bus/Minder installation (nearly all switches are c-bus).
I first want to set up a few wireless Saturn wall plates (replace remaining non c-bus switches) , plug adapters and possibly a remote control unit to create a wireless network, I then want to add a Wireless gateway so the 2 networks can communicate to each other.
V2.7 installation software does not know about wireless products so I need to use the Toolkit software to do this.
How can this be done?

Hi Marty,
You'd need to purchase a C-Bus PCI or CNI.

Tanx, i was just reading earlier posts about this and just found about about it.
How much is one of these units and how easy/hard is it to install into an existing home network?
I only recently found out about the new wireless products and want to add them to my existing installation. I was looking at using some X10 products but these new products saved me from doing that.

Hi Martin,
Installation for the CNI or PCI is dead easy..find a vacant C-Bus RJ45 socket on one of your output units (if you have DIN Rail output units) and plug it in. (CNI will need a powerpoint and ready access to your ethernet network as well).
Not sure on cost.. best to contact your reseller/dealer/integrator..
Glad to hear you're not installing X10.. the C-Bus Wireless stuff runs rings around it..

Tanx, I shall check it out.
Not sure what a DIN rail is but from what I underestand, I may not have it.
My place uses C-Bus/Minder setup

A DIN Rail is a just a extruded strip of metal that screws to your wall/panel. The extrusion is a standard shape that allows DIN style hardware to easily clip to the rail. A vast range of electrical products exist that are designed to clip to DIN rails. This makes the mounting of devices simple and convenient.
Most C-Bus hardware produced for the last several years is designed to mount onto DIN rails.

Tanx Richo, I checked and I do not have Din rails.
