Different Light Levels at different times of the day

Hi there,

I have been asked a few times from customers is that they would like to set different light levels / scenes at different times of the day/night to be activated automatically through there motion sensors through out the house..

for example

At 6pm the hallway light level is set to 80%
At 9pm the hallway light level is then set to 60%
at 11pm the hallway light level is then set to 40%
At 1am the hallway light level is set to 10%

I have spoken to programmers from Clipsal and other installers and all have tried but could not achieve this...

Can annoy one come up with the code for this to be achieved?

obviously it would be paid for...

apologies that you seem to ask or employ the wrong people for your needs.

there are several ways in which you can achieve this some more streamlined than others but the end result the same.

in this example you will a device with scheduling ability

touch screen etc. non logic version even and spare logic in the logic tab of the dimmer channel you are controlling.

program the sensor for 'hallway lights' as you have
make a new group address called 'light level' or whatever you want.

now put the group 'light level' into the logic tab of the dimmer channel you are controlling by selecting the appropriate check box and ensure that logic function at the bottom is set to "min"

"this will now require both groups to be on to set the load on"

now for the schedules create a schedule in touch screen/pac etc.

time 6pm set 'light level' to 80% -call the schedule light 6 or something

now duplicate the scene rename it to 9pm and change the level to 60%

you get the drift now. continue making the scheduled times and levels you require , think that at some time you might want a schedule to put it back at 100%

now because the logic in the dimmer requires both group addresses to be on the dimmer should set itself to the lowest level which in this case will always be the 'light level' group address

your problem solved at least one way, you can do the same in the PAC although you would use the logic engine more than likely.

A search here on the forums would have probably been a good first step.. as this topic has actually been covered numerous times here. I admit though sometimes it's hard to know what terms to search on.

Good on you oracle for going to the trouble of explaining it again... perhaps we should create a sticky on how to do this...

that is just one way of doing but I did that in case they were using a MK1 or touchscreen with no logic engine.

obviously a few lines of code could do something similar. and even not use the logic tab in the dimmer.

I have to say i have searched on here for this but came up empty handed...

Another question about this,

When at 1am the light level is set to 1% how to I over ride this to 100% if the light switch is pushed ON for whatever reason eg coming home late or whatever...? any ideas?


by the way im using wiser...

set the light switch to the light level group address instead of the hallway light group perhaps as a memory dimmer.
