Could we please make a listing with a brief descrition of compatible IP Cameras & IP Video Servers (composite in, RJ45 out)
QC3393 (IP Video Server) from Jaycar:
4 input
Single Channel IP Video/Audio Server from Ness:
Only displays time and date stamp on the top left corner. Simple to configure, assign an IP address to it.
Video IN, Audio IN, I/O Terminal Block.
Video OUT, Ethernet.

What FPS do you get with your camera's on the touch screen... both of the above are close to 1 second... anyone had a better response time than that? (It is a limitation of the video server, not the touch screen)

I have used these units many times the IP video 9100A, they can be brought off ebay for about $200.00 which is cheaper than Jaycar at $300.00.
The unit works fine if you use the settings for one of the camera's in the wizard, it will only show the image and no controls.
The refresh rate seems to be done by the c-touch as the ip sever is a full 25 fps and works fine over on PC.

Thanks for contributing Rossco. I'm curious about that one now... as the manufacturer couldn't even tell me how to remove the menu and only have the image. I was also testing it with just one camera... I don't recall the wizzard option though. Are you able to send me a screen shot of the setup page? Thanks.

Sorry for the Delay
Here is a screen shot of the setup to view only camera 1 on the ip video.

Thanks.
I'm currently testing another server with real time video (actual 25 FPS unlike the others I've tested). Just need the image only for the touch screen. Cost is three times as much as the others though :D
Does anyone use AXIS ? They were the original Lan-to-Video brand in the IT world.
AXIS is pricey and the cheap USA ones are not PAL.

I inteded on trying an Axis product... ended up testing this ACTi product instead. Real time is perfect, I'm still yet to find the address so I only have the image (not config menu etc).

We've an AXIS. An old one now, but nevertheless, its been just fine.

Gd day all,
We have used axis video servers with conventional cameras and all. But no sound though...
here is our live feed:
http://ibis-technology.dyndns.org:15000/view/indexFrame.shtml
of our cosy meeting room (haha)
website: www.ibis.com.sg
ProGate (live): http://ibuilding.no-ip.org/
with full implementation of C-Bus, IR, Security, AXIS Video Servers.
works find with Colour C-Touch. We have had 4 x axis displaying concurrently on a single page in touch screen at reasonable frame rates and quality -- basically just to show the capability of monitoring snap shot view of our premises as a sales pitch.
We are currently tinkering with software based video intercom based on the Aiphone principle.
Regards.

Bump this thread to the top of the list again. Any update on the list of video servers known to be compatable with the web cam tool in C-Touch Colour?
There are so many devices out there, I know that those requiring ActiveX won't work, those that require java won't work, those that require user passwords won't work. What do I need to look for in the spec sheet of a video server to be compatible?
With the webcam component, any that just have a constant url that you can reload to give you a new jpg image should work.
There was another thread here somewhere where someone used one of these (http://202.164.192.198/product-spec.php?pid=62), which they were happy with.

We use and IP video server from Ness (Part No. 100-310).
It works with the webcam wizard and you can plug any normal camera into it.

So, say for example you have a 4 channel video server, does each separate channel get assigned a discrete URL from which the webcam tool is configured?
What I want C-Touch Colour to do is to be able to access and display only the video at the selected video server input. The application being, front doorbell is connected to CBUS AUXINPUT unit, someone rings front door bell, C-Touch is automatically triggered to access and display the video from the camera aimed at the front door. Likewise, CBUS PIR senses motion, event triggers C-Touch Colour to automatically display the video from the camera aimed at the field of view of the PIR.
Is this do-able, or too much to ask?

This is what is required. Whether it can be done will depend on the video server.

As long as the video server allows you to get separate static JPEGs for each input, then what you require will be possible. You can put a different web cam on each of four pages and write some logic to display the right page under the right circumstances.

Can someone who is savvy with this sort of thing check out this link here (http://www.flexwatch.com/downfiles/fw-500a_specsheet.pdf):
and offer an opinion if this video server is likely to be compatible with the web cam tool in C-Touch Colour?
The bit that concerns me is in miscellaneous "java script (ver 1.1 mode)" Does this mean java is required on C-touch for it to work (which we know that C-touch doesn't support)??

It isn't obvious whether it will work or not. It uses MJPEG which is essentially what the web cam component uses. It might be a good idea to ask the manufacturer whether it can serve up single JPEG images.

The Australian agent has assured me it will work with C-Touch, money back guarantee in writing if it doesn't. They've also written a few lines of code for me so I can login to the dvr with the url only. I'll give it a try when I get home next week.

Let us know how you go. If it works, other people may want to use it also.

Ok, so I am a little confused.? After reading some very hepful posts here I decided to buy a Ness 100-130 Video Server
I installed a c-touch a while back at a job with a normal camera at the front door running though a modulator and onto the TV screens.
The customer now wants to utilise the web cam feature in the ctouch so they don,t have to turn / leave the TV on to see who's there.
So I got the Ness 100-130 to do this but am confused as to whether there has to be a PC there running all the time to make it all work. Or does it just use:
1: camera
2: c-touch
3: Video server.
I have allready used the web cam wizard in piced and set the IP up ready to take to site and install.
The client is very energy and security conservtive so doesn't want to leave his computer allways on.
Hope this makes sence?
Thanks in advance.

That is correct. No PC is required.

It is a good idea to test it from PICED first to make sure it is all OK.

Great, Top Idea thanks! But how? I have a spare camera here and have conected it all up and i get no picture on my page I have created for the web cam. Any tips.
cheers.

Check that you can view a static JPEG image from the web cam in a regular web browser.
See the FAQ topic "Problems with Displaying HTML". Many of the same principles apply.

Hi Will
In the webcam component setup, the URL should be something like
http://192.168.1.69/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg
where you'll have the IP address that you assigned the server.
You also need to have the HTTP Authentication filled in. The default username and password for that server is:
User: admin
Pwd: 1234
You obviously have to have the colour touchscreen and IP server on your LAN.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Matt

Thanks Matt,
Yea It is a CTC.
I have set it up this way:
http://192.168.0.77/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg
Admin
1234
But still does not work, It comes up with
Internet explorer cannot disply the wepage.
I am probably out of my depth here in computer talk but am trying to learn.
I know it must be so simple to set up but, I am missing something someware?
thanks
Will.

OK, to go a step further with this topic.
I have installed an Axis 241Q video server on my network and got it displaying the video feed from my security system on my CTC. It works a treat! Now I want to take the functionality a step further.
I want to be able to recall a page on the CTC automatically when an event is triggered on the CBUS network. Is there any way to do this other than in the logic engine? I have a PIR looking down my driveway. When it detects motion I want the page on my CTC that displays that particular camera to be recalled automatically for a preset period.
And to take it a step further again. The Axis 241Q can also be configured for motion detection, and when sensed close a dry contact relay on it's output. I want to connect these dry contact relays to an AUX input unit and get CTC to display any of the 4 video channels automatically when the Axis detects motion in the relevant video frame.
Am I looking at logic here as my only solution, or is something else doable like this in PICED?

You could use a button with a page link to select the required page and trigger the button from the C-Bus event (remote control tab in Component Properties). It is much easier in logic though.

As above.
