Hi guys,
I recently upgraded a couple of Colour Touch Screens on a site and every once in a while , they just wont restart properly (or atleast that is what I am assuming happens.)
They have the scheduled 2 am daily restart.
When the problem happens the unit gets powered up (the blue LED glows) but the screen remains blank. It works fine after a restart sometimes for months at a strech and then suddenly when u least expect it , it craps out on ya.
This happened to all of the touch screens here at some time or the other(there are 4 of them).
Anybody else have this happen to them or know what could be causing this??

What do you do to recover? Just restart them again? How?

I haven't come across this problem before.

If you are using the latest flash card build, there should be no need to have a restart at all. It might be worthwhile to have one every few months just in case, but certainly not every day.

I did it a couple of months back but I am pretty sure that PICED wouldnt let me download the project without including the schedules for restart. (It flagged it as a critical error).
The Touch Screens do restart regularly. Do you think its worthwhile removing this schedule??

I have to manually switch it off and then back on again , since like I said it doesnt boot up and hence cant do a 'soft' restart

Are you using the latest PICED, i.e. 3.8.0?

Can you confirm if your Colour C-Touches have had the flash cards updated?

I had this problem a few times on earlier versions of the touchscreen. Since using the latest firmware and the latest PICED I haven't had it happen since on any projects.

I did upgrade to the new flash cards and I used PICED version 3.7

Hi Extrex,
I think this problem is caused by the scheduled restart.
If you are using the html component in the project anywhere set the restart schedule to be fortnightly.
If you aren't using the html component anywhere you could remove the scheduled restart altogether. Upgrade PICED to version 3.8 and it should no longer force you to use a scheduled restart.

Matty
