View Full Version : Please explain
Can anyone please explain why c-gate and installer differ in what they think is on my network? Here is a partial screen shot of installer and cgate
"c:\temp\cgate.jpg"
"c:\temp\cgate2.jpg"
Well that didn't work. First can someone tell me how to post images?

Tonyo,
I've never done it, but when you reply scroll down and press the manage attachments button.
Then browse to the file you want to upload select it then press open.
Then press upload.
It should then upload (wait for it to happen, could take a while)
When it has finished you will see it listed as a current attachment
Press close this window
All done
Regards
Rohan

Ok, so this image is a little on the large side, (scroll sideways) but at least it worked!

Looks to me at a glance that C-Gate hasn't finished modelling the network yet. Leave it for another couple of minutes and then try again in C-Gate.

I agree with Newman.
In my experiencewith C-Gate it takes a few minutes to build the internal object model from the network.
That way when you inquire as to the state of a unit, it comes back from the internal object that represents the real unit. ie its fast, as it doe's not have to interogate the unit over the C-Bus network.
C-Gate then keeps the internal object model up to date it's self.
At least that's my understanding (and experience) with the product.

I left it for over an hour to get this. It does fill a few extra in over time but never past unit number 10
If you have a C-Bus network with bad communications, either due to impedance or voltage problems then the communications can be so unreliable that C-Gate takes an eternity to image the network. If it takes an hour and it's still not done then that would be my bet. To check the communications, connect the V2 software and do a scan. If you get slow responses and the grid in incompletely filled in then that's your problem.
What is the best solution to improve my comms. I have a minder system attached. Should I have an extra serial or network connection put in to by pass the minder?

If you are using the C-bus interface on minder then you will experience problems as the Minder PCI is riunning V1 firmware and you need >V2.00d. You will need to use a seperate PCI.
