Dimming iron core transformers

I am aware of the capacitance issue limiting the number of electronic transformers that are capable of being dimmed on a single dimmer channel. Do any such restrictions apply to the use of iron core transformers. I want to use the 4 channel 2A din rail dimmer to control 10 x 20 watt garden lights via a 400VA transformer.

You should be able to load it up with Iron core trannys no problem.

Rule of thumb: allow ~10% for losses in the TX in your total load calculation, so if your total nominal lamp load is say 200W then allow for 220W to actually flow through the dimmer, this is true of most dimmers not just C-bus. Some really crap TX may lose as much as 15 - 20%. Hint make sure TX isnt laid on loft insulation or it will sink over time and over heat, don't mount on the ceiling panel as any vibration may be transmitted through to the room below.
