View Full Version : Volume Control
Is there any other way of controlling the volume + & volume - on a key input (not DLT) other than using the dimmer up & dimmer down commands?
The problem being the both LED's obviously stay on whilst the GA is on. The LED should only turn ON when the button is pressed.
I realise we are trying to use a Cbus / lighting command to control audio, but maybe a dedicated audio control function could be included in the next key input firmware change...
And before anyone suggestes it, turning the LED's off is NOT a solution

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to use a different group address for the LED and control it's state via a PAC module to be one during a ramp or something like that. May not be able to achieve the momentary illumination but may be able to achieve something useable.
I'm sure it can be done via a PAC, it would be more useful and less hassle to have it built in to the key inputs considering that the Multi Room Audio product is now part of the Cbus family.

Good suggestion. I have added feature requests for both wireless and wired firmware to support have LED's *not* controlled by group address but reflect physical key press only. (obviously as an option).

I did it with the Neo plates
I set them to bell press and assigned a dummy address to them
Then sent the appropriate commands to the 5034NIRT
Have only used 4 functions... -Vol +Vol +Disc +Track
Obviously you need to press the button (or remote to make the change)
Are you looking at ramping the volume level from A to B on a single button press?

Jim,
Why are you using the NIRT to control the Clipsal C-Bus Multi Room Audio system?

I don't have the Clipsal C-Bus Multi Room Audio system
I just used the NIRT and a couple of leads to connect to a stereo system

As the MRA is controlled via C-Bus, a NIRT is not required.

Sorry mate...
This came up when I did a search for "dimmer ramp rates"
I will make sure I check the headings in future
Hope I did not spoil your day

No worries mate,
It takes a lot to spoil my day
I couldn't work out why you would you use a NIRT on the MRA?

An example of why one might consider doing this is if you wanted to control Mute or balance from a lighting like application. (Lighting, trigger, enable etc...).
I was referring to the basic functions like volume control.

Oh ok ... it seemed the thread had diverged in to a more general discussion. But as you say,for volume, the support is all there natively.
