G'day,

What sort of ratings do the motors poeple are using for blinds, curtains, shutters etc have? I would have thought ~100W would be good enough for most purposes. Anyone using anything much bigger?
I assume mostly 240V AC is used, anyone gone for DC or using 110V AC?

Would be interesting to hear what's actually being used out in that scary place they call the 'real world'...

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi there,

AC tubular motors can have anything from 95 to 1200 Watt, all depending on size.
For our range of motors (we are a tubular motor manufacturer) you mostly have:

up to 160 Watt for normal roller blinds
up to 250 Watt for large/ high speed (68 rpm) roller blinds
up to 410 Watt for awnings and roller shutters
up to 190 Watt for Venetian blinds

of course, at the end of the day it is best to get technical data from the motor supplier and confirm requirements.

BTW:
Start up load (about first 0.1 - 0.5 seconds, depending on size) can be up to 2 times the rated current (but mostly only about 1.5 times)!
